1958-03-05 2011-09-19We are saddened to inform you of the recent passing of Mr. Joseph E. Barber, class of 1976on Monday, September 19, 2011 at his home. Joe Barber was born in Washington on March 5, 1958. He graduated from Coolidge High School in 1976 and attended the University of the District of Columbia.
Joe parlayed an omnivorous appetite for movies and the Washington arts scene into a career as an entertainment critic for local broadcasting and print outlets. For several years, he was a producer for Derek McGinty’s public affairs show on WAMU and reviewed arts and film for the program. He also was a regular on “The Tony Kornheiser Show” and other radio programs.
The Coolidge Alumni community extends our most heart-felt sympathy and prayers to the Barber family.
Barber's picks will certainly be miss. I use to see Joe at different WOL functions. Very quiet, but very intelligent especially when it came to analyzing movies. I listened to him WTOP and Tonk K's sports show. It's something how our age group is going away from here.R.I.P. Barber's picks. You will be miss!!!
